I have a friend in Turkey who drove 49 miles to rescue me ,I gave the car hire company his details as they could not speak English ,I gave him the key so he could communicate with them. One feels cheteed by the thieves from NOVA.After hiring a car ,I had to sign so many documents but it was midnight so I just wanted away ,I tried to pay by debit card but they would not accept I know why now ! On a very dark unlit country road I had a tyre blow out on leaving the car there were wild dogs so you can imagine ,it is now 1am so I tried to contact the hire company but no interest or offer of help. That staff does not seem to be particularly knowledgeable and intelligent does not make things better. I can imagine that the same car will be rented out to another customer and then he will have to pay again. We had a scratch in the car's spoiler of about 10 cm and this we had to pay 500 Euro for!!!!! Repairing this would cost a maximum of 50 Euro. In addition, an assessment is made of personnel who are trained to deceive the customers and NOVA in this way gets paid several times for the same damage. And then the price list applies that only NOVA has and the prices there are at least 10-15 times higher than actual prices. If you don´t see a small damage you are liable for it when you left the car back. Customers must inspect cars in total darkness with only light from their own mobile phones. NOVA is a small rental company that attracts with low prices, but their business concept is to get paid for any damages that may accure during the lease.
Should I return to Croatia I know who I will turn to for car hire. My communications with them were handled quickly, fairly and professionally. Well done Nova - problems can always arise but it is how they are resolved that is the test of a business. A complimentary extra day car hire was agreed with me by the manager I was in contact with and they were generous with the fuel requirement for when the car needed to be returned. On arrival I was promptly dealt with, apologies provided for the problem and handed a brand new car (delivery mileage only). They offered a couple of options for swapping the car over and I elected to drive the relatively short distance to their location at Zadar Airport.
I emailed Nova who responded promptly and suggesting that for safety it would be best to change the car. A couple of hours after taking delivery a warning light came on intermittently. Handover and paperwork completed quickly. I hired a car from Nova who delivered it to my hotel at the agreed time. Returning the car in Dubrovnik was equally smooth, with a hassle-free drop-off process. The car I received was Kia Sportage in excellent condition and provided a comfortable and reliable ride throughout my entire trip. From start to finish, it was a five-star journey!
